Opened on 1 October 1896, till this very day the National Academy of Art is still considered to be the most prestigious Bulgarian institution for training professional artists in the field of fine and applied arts, design, conservation and restoration and history and theory of art (in BA, MA and DA programs).The National Academy of Art has two departments, of Fine Arts and of Applied Arts.The chairs in both departments are responsible for teaching and research, and for the development and implementation of the curricula in the following fields where students acquire professional university degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts and Doctor of Arts. Each chair guarantees specializations and doctoral studies.The curricula of all disciplines incorporate History of Art, Aesthetics, Philosophy, Drawing, Anatomy, Perspective, Foreign languages, Sports. The students willing to qualify as teachers, study the additional disciplines of Pedagogy, Applied experimental psychology of visual arts, Psychology, Mapping, Pedagogical practice and Methodology of visual arts. Scenography trains artists to design, or implement designs for live performance and film. The study program combines the traditional qualifications of stage design with new technologies and media, and blends different genres into the more general visual arts, plays and films.Stage designers holding a BA degree obtain complex knowledge and skills on space vs time and their synthesis in all types of drama, opera, ballet, puppetry, cinema and TV productions, music and other arts, fashion shows, carnivals etc. They are trained to work in cooperation with directors, actors, conductors, cameramen, choreographers, playwrights, animators; they are also competent in forming, and heading, of performing teams.

About College：Founded in 1950, the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts (NACTA) is the only institute of its kind in China that offers both B.A. and M.A. degrees. Its international student programs include three-year M.A. program, four-year B.A. program, 1-year/2-year student certificate program, 3-month/6-month student certificate program as well as Chinese language program, Chinese opera performing arts program and summer or winter camp for international students.The Department of Xiqu Stage Design has four majors: Xiqu Stage Design, Xiqu Costume Design, Xiqu Lighting Design and Xiqu Make-up Design. It provides Master and Bachelor programs. In the past two decades, the Academy has trained a great number of talents in Xiqu Stage Design who are actively working for the major professional troupes and engaged in the fields of art education, television and film.

PLA is an art college designed to cultivate artists for the armies. Founded in May 1960 in Beijing, it is an affiliate of the General Political Department of PLA. PLAAA has 17 majors in 7 departments. The 17 majors include creative writing, traditional Chinese painting, painting, art design for stage, block print, spoken drama, Film & Television performing arts, vocal music, instrumental music, dance performance, teacher training, writing and directing, cultural work management in the army, military music performance and so on; the 7 departments include literature, arts, theatre, music, dance, cultural work in the army and military instrumental performance.

Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University is a Turkish state university dedicated to the higher education of fine arts. Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University was established by archeologist, museum director and painter Osman Hamdi Bey in 1882 under the name “Sanayi-i Nefise Mekteb-i Alisi” (The Imperial School of Fine Arts). This establishment started art and architecture education in our country in 1883, and became the first higher education institution to be given the title ‘academy’ by taking the name “Fine Arts Academy”in 1928. The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp (Dutch: Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen) is an art academy located in Antwerp, Belgium. It is one of the oldest of its kind in Europe. It was founded in 1663 by David Teniers the Younger, painter to the Archduke Leopold Wilhelm and Don Juan of Austria. Teniers was master of the Guild of St Luke — which embraced arts and some handicrafts — and petitioned Philip IV of Spain, then master of the Spanish Netherlands, to grant a royal charter to establish a Fine Arts Academy in Antwerp.Theatre has become a mix in which different disciplines from the podium arts are complemented with visual art forms and multimedia. The fine line between dramatic art and liberal art is not as strict anymore as it used to be: theatre sometimes becomes a performance and vice versa. More and more visual artists use the resources that a theatre maker uses and the theatre maker works together with the liberal artist.The section costume design wants to offer, with its academic bachelor, an education that combines the study of the medium ‘theatre’ with the study of contemporary art. An extensive theoretical base ensures the student to have a broad vision on the medium ‘theatre’ in all its aspects.The know-how is taught through practical exercises in which text analysis, dramaturgy, semiotics, character analysis, technical research and practice form the core. Further we offer an extensive drawing course: drawing is still the most important way of communication for a designer.A team of docents and guest docents – each with his/her artistic vision – offers the students an extensive package of tools through internships, workshops and exercises. That way the students are able to perfect themselves in a three-year bachelor and a one-year master. The bachelor is short but intensive – the master is totally focused on theatre work on a professional level.The courses are nowhere near a course ‘costume maker’, but lead to ‘theatre costume designer’, what contains a lot more baggage. It is therefore imperative that candidates who are applying for the artistic entrance exam, have a minimum of foreknowledge, on the one hand an as broad as possible social insight and cultural interest, on the other hand some skills in drawing.

Through lectures, workshops and practical art work, programme aims at establishing joint process of creation, realisation and presentation of a performing event in the broadest sense of the word. MA Programme in Scene Design at NOVA Academy of Arts in Belgrade represents one of the unique and innovative study programmes offered for the first time in Serbian academic environment. Programs for international students: All study programmes are aimed at national and international students. Special summer courses in intermediate photography “From Exploration to Self-expression” and art theory “Culture and Art in Socialist Yugoslavia” are also available in August 2011.

We have a number of international students in our program, and Penn State has vibrant communities for students from countries all over Europe, South America, Africa and Asia. We also require our Masters degree candidates to study in London during their first summer, and either in Italy or Eastern Europe during the second summer.The international experience for the graduate students is very special to our Masters program, and the Undergraduate program is rare in it’s ability to provide the undergraduate students with a wealth of hands-on design & technical experience during their 4 years with us. We have 3 diverse performance spaces that are in use regularly, plus access to 4 more different types of spaces, giving the students an incredible breadth of opportunities. We also have 3 labs, devoted individually to Lighting, Automated Scenery, and Sound & Projections. Having these spaces available allows for a great deal of hands-on learning outside of the demands of the production process.

Hungarian University of Fine Arts, Department of Scenography has Stage design Costume design Puppet design specialisations. The HungarianScenograpy department is part of the international Erasmus student exchange program. We are open to host students from everywhere for one semester. Exchange students have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of Set- and Costume design for Films and Theatre and Puppet design also. The BA degree contains 2 chosen specialization from 3 options: set design, costume design and puppet design.
